Profile of H.E. Mr. Mehdi Hasan
Ambassador of Bangladesh to Sweden

Ambassador H.E. Mr.Mehdi Hasan is a career diplomat and a member of the Bangladesh Foreign Service.

In the course of his diplomatic career spanning over 24 years, H.E. Mr. Hasan has served in various capacities in Dhaka and Bangladesh Missions in New Delhi, Moscow and Bahrain. He also served as Consul General in Hong Kong.

Prior to his arrival in Sweden on 13 June 2022, he served in the Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Director General responsible for Administration. Earlier, he served as Director of the South Asia and the SAARC Wings in the Ministry.

Mr. Hasan graduated from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET). He did Masters in Water Resources Engineering from BUET as well and later Masters in International Relations in Paris. He underwent several professional trainings including in International Trade law, International Humanitarian law, green economy, politics and economics of international energy etc. Besides his mother tongue Bengali, he speaks English and French. Reading, sports and music are his leisure time activities.

He is married to Mrs. Shanjida Khanam and has one son and one daughter.
