Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers & Exporters
Association (BGMEA)
is going to organize the 21st Bangladesh Apparel and
Textile Exposition ‘BATEXPO-2010’ from 25-27 November, 2010 at
the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka, Bangladesh. BATEXPO
is one of the largest expositions in the Asia-Pacific region which showcases full range of apparel, textile and other related
products under the same roof. This is a unique opportunity for apparel
and other buyers to mingle under the same roof and choose their
business partners. Business forums, associations, companies, trade
bodies and investors of the Nordic countries are welcome to take part in
the BATEXPO-2010 in Bangladesh. More information about the event

The Export
Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh (EPB), in cooperation with the Ministry
of Commerce, Government of Bangladesh, is organizing the 16th ‘Dhaka
International Trade Fair (DITF) – 2011’ in Dhaka from 1-31 January 2011. The event will provide immense opportunity for both
buyers and sellers to establish new business contacts.
The participants in the Nordic region are advised
to submit their application form for participation in the fair through
this Embassy or through their own Embassy in Bangladesh. The application

Standard & Poors (S&P)
has rated Bangladesh
BB-
in the first ever sovereign credit rating of the country which shows the
potential of the country as an attractive destination of foreign
investment.
Moody's
Investors Service
has assigned a
Ba3
rating for Bangladesh which is more or less similar to the BB- rating by
S&P.
Chittagong Export Processing Zone of Bangladesh is in 3rd position
in Best Cost Competitiveness and in 4th position in Best Economic
Potential for 2010/2011 in a Global Competition of Economic Zones
conducted by FDI magazine of The Financial Times, London.
A
Danish study
reveals that shipbuilding is at least 15% cheaper in Bangladesh as
compared to any other part of the world.
Bangladesh Government has decided to form a limited company named
Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund (BIFF) which will finance
companies that will be involved in Bangladesh's infrastructure projects.
The company will receive an initial fund from the government and will
issue bond, other debt instruments, equity offering and use other
internationally practiced financing mechanism to raise fund from foreign
and local investors for investment in targeted sectors.

From 01 April 2010 until 31 March 2011 Embassy will issue/renew
non-machine readable Bangladesh passports with validity of at best 3 years. Please look into 'Visa/Passport' menu for new fees for
3-year
passport or 3-year renewal.
Issuing new passport/renewal beyond 3 years is discontinued in general. Please note
that the Embassy has not yet started issuing Machine Readable Passport.
